Tinhorn Creek 'Innovation Series' Whole Cluster Cabernet Franc, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
NEW, juicy, silky.
This new portfolio edition is not from Tinhorn Creek's vineyards, but from a site on Anarchist Mountain, in Osoyoos, called the Red Brick Vineyard. Made in a more natural method, it was picked in late October in whole clusters (stems not removed) and placed in open top fermenters for 25 days to go through a natural fermentation (no yeasts added to assist the alcoholic fermentation). Whole berries went through partial carbonic fermentation in a zero oxygen environment, creating a longer and slower process and the wine was pressed and racked into French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation (a second fermentation) and matured in barrel for 16 months. Expect spicy red fruits, a hint of cracked pepper, sweet vanilla, cocoa and pipe tobacco. It is juicy and balanced; flavours of licorice, sweet spices and high-toned red berries culminate in clove on the finish. The tannins are silky.

Tinhorn Creek 'Oldfield Reserve' Cabernet Franc, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Fresh,supple, plush.
Cabernet Franc is a Tinhorn Creek flagship grape, they excel with the variety and the 2018 stands tall. Mostly Cab Franc, it has 12% Merlot blended in and the finished wine spent 18 months maturing in French oak.
The nose suggests a warm hug; jammy raspberry, plush chocolate and black currents, vanilla, sage, pipe tobacco and sweet brown spice aromas dominate. The entry is supple and the wine coats your palate with fleshy raspberry and currents to echo the nose. It's fresh and wonderfully drinkable, the finish trails mocha, tealeaf and fine spice, the chalky tannins add some chewiness.
Pair:hearty pastas with tomato ragu, game meats, blue cheese or bean chili.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Blue Cheese & Cracked Pepper

Tinhorn Creek 'Oldfield Reserve' Cabernet Franc, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Fragrant, savoury, distinct.
What used to be the Oldfield Series, is now Oldfield Reserve
It comes with a new label look, and the change (label colour/design and name) is not depicted in the attached photo.
Cabernet Franc is one of Tinhorn's flagship wines, and new winemaker Andrew Windsor (since 2014) has continued Sandra Oldfield's work, continuously striving to make it better.
Expect fragrant aromas of blueberry compote, wild currents, violets and woodsy aromas alongside mocha, cherry cola and dried sage. The palate is savoury; fleur de sel and dried herbs, peppery spices and dark mocha flavours roll into distinct tealeaf notes. Overall, structure and balance are rooted firmly in this wine, and it has a lengthy finish.

Tinhorn Creek 'Oldfield Reserve' Chardonnay, Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Gutsy, luxurious, creamy.
What used to be known as Oldfield Series, is now Oldfield Reserve. This Chardy was fermented in French oak using natural yeasts then matured in oak barrels for an additional 18 months.
It's an unabashed Chardonnay, providing intense notes of toasted coriander, burnt lemons, buttered baguette, yellow apples, grilled pineapple, hazelnuts and vanilla. The palate is creamy; flavours of dulce de leche, toasted praline and spice dominate the palate. Supple in weight and slick in texture with a lengthy finish.

Gutsy, rich, creamy.

Off the charts; a patisserie of liquid creme brulee drizzled in hazelnuts, golden apple turnovers, honeysuckle and matchstick aromas. It is creamy and packs a wallop of flavour in rich vanilla liqueur, melty caramels, sweet grilled pineapple and spiced vanilla lingering on the finish.
A gutsy and unapologetic wine.
