Yalumba 'Y Series' Viognier, South Australia
Readers rated this wine:
Supple, concentrated, spiced.
At 170 years old, Yalumba is the oldest family owned winery in Australia, home to one of the largest viticulture nurseries and the only winery cooperage in the country. Yalumba was also the first to commercially plant Viognier in the Barossa Valley in 1980 when there was only an estimated 11-14 hectares in the world, primarily in Northern Rhone Valley.
For many wine lovers, this wine was their first taste of the Viognier variety. It's a popular wine with charming notes of peach stone and lemon wax, wood smoke and eggshell, ginger, burnt honey and pine. Supple and concentrated with distinct salt, spice and citrus peel tones. The finish has texture and lingers with citrus pith.

Classic, texture, aromatic.
At 170 years old, Yalumba is the oldest family owned winery in Australia, home to one of the largest viticulture nurseries and the only winery cooperage in the country. Yalumba was also the first to commercially plant Viognier in the Barossa Valley in 1980 and for many wine lovers, this wine was their first taste of the Viognier variety. It's a popular wine and an even more appealing price now and it suggests peach marmalade, ginger biscuits and loads of exotic spice and lime. Good freshness here with plenty of phenolic texture to add weight and freshness. It trails mineral, lime, spice and herbal flavours.

At more than 160 years old, Yalumba is now the oldest family owned winery in Australia, home to one of the largest viticulture nurseries and the only winery cooperage in the country. Yalumba was also the first to commercially plant Viognier in the Barossa Valley in 1980 and for many wine lovers, this wine was their first taste of the Viognier variety. It's a popular wine for a reason - wild honey, ginger biscuits, lime peel, peach stone and mango aromas roll into smoke and exotic spice and floral tones. It has a seductive oily weight and plenty of juicy acidity to balance the sweet spice, stone fruit, citrus and ginger flavours. It has lovely concentration and a spicy, mouthwatering finish. Yalumba Organic Shiraz, South Australia
Readers rated this wine:
Fleshy, fresh, fragrant.
This organic Shiraz was born from four family-owned vineyards and is made by Australia's oldest family owned winery.
Fragrant notes of mulberry and black raspberry, sarsaparilla and Turkish coffee lead to a supple and fresh palate. Fleshy berry fruit flavours co-mingle with white pepper, leather, cola, spices underscored by concord grapes. Tasty with good purity. Pair: Swiss cheese and mushroom burgers, pastas with red sauce, pizza. ©copyright 2021 Daenna Van Mulligen
