Chateau Canet "Cote Lavande" Sauvignon Blanc, Pays d'Oc, France
Readers rated this wine:
Tangy, savoury, light.
Produced by Chateau Canet in Languedoc, the Cote Lavande labels pay homage to French Art Deco travel posters of the 20s and 30s. Aromas of crunchy white fruits and tangy citrus are layered with savoury roasted herbs and fleur de sel. On the palate, gooseberry and lime flavours dominate; there is a hint of minerality here too. It is light-bodied and refreshing; a quaffable white with an attractive price tag. ©copyright 2018 Daenna Van Mulligen

Plush, fragrant, fresh.
Produced by Chateau Canet in Languedoc, the Cote Lavande labels pay homage to French Art Deco travel posters of the 20s and 30s. A deliciously balanced Viognier, plush yet not blousy, with fragrant honeysuckle, tangerine, honeyed peaches, vanilla and fluer de sel. Sweet and juicy fruit dominates the palate, it is ripe and supple but fresh and lovely as well. ©copyright 2018 Daenna Van Mulligen

Circus Malbec, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Spicy, plummy, umami.
A fetching new label adorns the Circus, and it delivers aromas dominated by spice and blackberry, which are woven with plummy notes, soy sauce, dried herbs, dark chocolate, blueberries and tobacco. It is equally salty and spicy in the mouth; dark mocha, leather and muddled tangy wild berries come together to create a savoury/umami wine, an everyday dinner red, perfect for hearty stews, roasted meats and hard cheeses. Pairs great with Gone Crackers Blue Cheese & Cracked Pepper ©copyright 2018 Daenna Van Mulligen

Circus Malbec, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, value, fresh.
Always offering good value, the Circus wines lean savoury and this meaty BBQ friendly Malbec suggests grilled black plums, salted blackberry, dried sage and chervil, dark roasted espresso and peppery spices. Smoked cured meats, balsamic and roasted coffee and fleur de sel flavours are supported with wild black fruits. Nice freshness here and a medium-length chocolaty finish.
Pair: hearty stews, roasted mushrooms and hard cheeses. Pairs great with Gone Crackers Blue Cheese & Cracked Pepper ©copyright 2021 Daenna Van Mulligen

Second review: August 2020
Raspberries, blackberries and spiced plums, dark chocolate and espresso, roasted herbs and purple floral aromas lead to a supple palate with strong savoury overtones. Good balance here and the finish is smooth and medium-length. ©copyright 2020 Daenna Van Mulligen Wine Scores Reviewed - August 18th, 2020
Juicy, value, perfumed.
While this wine has always been awesome value, the 2019 vintage is the best yet. It is intensely perfumed with violets and sweet black raspberries, vanilla, baking spices and cedar with vague meaty/bacon fat undertones. The attack is juicy, high-toned purple berry flavours are melded with oak spice and vanilla flavours. Smooth and very quaffable.
