Stoneboat Vineyards Pinot Noir, Okanagan Valley BC, 2010
Readers rated this wine:
Grown on the rocky, calcium-rich benches of the Black Sage, south of Oliver, this fabulous Pinot Noir offers fragrant aromas of cherry and raspberry, sweet spices, cedarbox and violets with a core of rainforest floor, sage and white pepper. It's fresh and silky on the palate, it has an elegant, feminie character and plenty of juicy; high-toned red fruit underscored with leather and cedar flavours. The finish is clean and trails fine spice flavours.

Pinotage is South African variety (Cinsault crossed with Pinot Noir) has its fans and its critics, but when you talk about this rare variety in British Columbia, Stoneboat is usually the first to spring to mind.
It's been a decade since I've tried this wine and it's remained true to it's past.
Expect notes of tar and cherries, black chocolate and leather, salted licorice and charred strawberries with toasted spice.
It has a savoury palate; salty and herbal with cocoa, red berries, toasted spice, leather and bacon fat. Fresh with bitter undertones. ©copyright 2023 Daenna Van Mulligen

This South African variety (Cinsault crossed with Pinot Noir) has its fans and its critics, but when you talk about this rare variety in British Columbia, Stoneboat is usually the first to spring to mind. It's a wonderful blend of exuberant strawberry and sweet blueberry aromas, carob and peppery spices with grilled wild herbal notes. Expect smooth dark carob and berry flavours, roasted coffee beans and smoked spices. Good intensity and balance to keep it bright on the palate. ©copyright 2013 Daenna Van Mulligen
