Bartier Bros. Cabernet Franc, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Pretty, fresh, character.
Without doubt, Michael Bartier is one of British Columbia's most talented and humble winemakers. He makes honest wines and trusts the site and the fruit to dictate the wine. This Cab Franc (with 8% Merlot) comes from fruit grown on the Black Sage gravel bar in the estate Cerqueira Vineyard and it was aged 14 months in neutral French oak.
Currents and cherry aromas are layered with dried violets, brown spices, tealeaf and leather with hints of vanilla and fresh earth. It has lovely freshness and classic Cabernet Franc character with flavours that mimic the nose. Earthy and honest it has woven polished tannins.

It is juicy; red berries, brown spices, tobacco, vanilla and cocoa lead the nose. On the palate, equally bouncy red fruit is buoyed by the wine's weight and intensity. Chalky espresso tannins and spice trail across the finish. Excellent structure and length with a notable savoury character.
