Bodegas Franco-Espanolas 'Conde Bel' Crianza, Rioja, Spain
Readers rated this wine:
Classic, juicy, savoury.
Rioja Bordon has a lengthy winemaking history of nearly 125 years; it was founded in 1890, post phylloxera. This 2018 Crianza is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha.
Red juicy fruit aromas are layered with saddle leather and strawberry, tealeaf and iodine. The palate is an echo of the nose; bright tangy red fruits, savoury spice, tobacco and leather.
Classic.

Bodegas Franco-Espanolas 'Diamante', Rioja Spain
Readers rated this wine:
Rustic, honeyed, substance.
I've been told that this semi-sweet blend of Viura and Malvasia is the number one selling Rioja white wine in the world. It shows earthy aromas of mushrooms and wild honey alongside bruised peaches and melon with a suggestion of wildflowers. It's off-dry with nice palate weight; it has substance and a sort of savoury funky rustic character.

Bodegas Franco-Espanolas Rioja Bordon, Rioja, Spain
Readers rated this wine:
Fresh, dry, light.
Made from Garnacha, with Rioja's white grape, Viura, this pale salmon-hued rose offers sweet red berries, tangerine, tobacco and a whiff of minerals. The palate is light, dry and zesty. It is straightforward and a great quaffer, it offers tart red fruit, cedar and citrus flavours and will pair nicely with charcuterie, fish, appetizers and patio sipping.

Carm Grande Reserva, Douro, Portugal
Readers rated this wine:
Intense, inky, impressive.
Carm is made by the Roboredo Madeira family from Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca grown on the steep slopes along the Douro River.
Plush purple berries and strawberry jam, vanilla, licorice baking spices and cocoa aromas evolve into a palate with inky fruit, cinnamon and star anise, black pepper, vanilla, chocolate, tobacco and leather. Boom; supple and persistent, intense and jammy, this is an impressive bottle.

Carm Organic Red, Douro, Portugal
Readers rated this wine:
Gregarious, generous, supple.
Carm is made by the Roboredo Madeira family from Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca grown on the steep slopes along the Douro River.
Grape jelly and blueberry jam, sarsaparilla and violets alongside white pepper best describe the aromas of this gregarious red. The palate mimics the nose--it is fresh and generous, laden with purple fruits, fine spice, vanilla and pipe tobacco. Fine cocoa tannins cling to the finish.
A full-throttle wine.
