Juicy, fragrant, textural.
Araldica's Alasia Langhe Nebbiolo is made from Nebbiolo grapes cultivated in the Langhe hills around the town of Alba in northern Italy's Piemonte region. The vineyards have a south westerly aspect and are situated at altitudes between 200 and 300m above sea level and are an average age of 30 years. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks then transferred to stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation and is then racked to a mixture of French oak barrels (40%) and large traditional Piedmont oak vats for 12 months maturation. The two components are blended and bottled after ageing.
Expect fragrant Maraschino cherries and orange peel, vanilla, cedar, pipe tobacco, dried roses and star anise aromas. It's a medium-bodied red with fine, textural tannins and flavours of red cherry, tobacco, leather, cocoa and spice. It has a juicy character and is perfect for meat stews, pastas with fresh pesto, pizza or roasted smoky eggplant dishes.
