Savoury, ssubstantial, character.
The primary source of grapes for the Max come from the Errazuriz Aconcagua Valley estate, 90 km north of Santiago. It was aged in French oak.
Expect notes of smoked plums and black currents, dried bayleaf and pepper, black chocolate, charred herbs and toasted spices. It has notable salinity in the mouth along with black fruits, tobacco, dark mocha and brown spice. The tannins have chew and there is a brooding character here. A substantial wine with balanced acidity--a meat wine.
Second review: November 2023
Spiced plums and bitter chocolate, bay leaf and roasted bell peppers, espresso and black currents. The palate reflects the savouriness of the nose; plum and bay leaf, spice rub and coffee with bitter chocolate finish.
