Upper Case Winery's the tasting room can be found at District Wine Village north of Oliver, the estate vineyards, owned by the Evertt family, are located in the South Okanagan Valley: Upper Case on the Black Sage Bench grows Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Pinot Noir. Miller Road Vineyard is also on the Black Sage Bench and is planted with Riesling and Merlot. The Border Vineyard is on the Osoyoos West Bench and is planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
The wines are made by Pascal Madevon--formerly of Osoyoos Larose.
This is the inaugural release of Upper Case wines.
The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from vines in the Similkameen Valley and Golden Mile Bench.
The nose is fleshy and plush; notes of cedar chips and dried violets are woven with ribena, kirsch, licorice, mixed dark and milk chocolate and vanilla. The intensity on the nose comes through on the palate; intense chocolate and espresso, oak spice and black fruit flavours dominate, The tannins are firm; powerful structure here.
