Savoury, earthy, smooth.
Owners of old Hill, the Gill family have been farming for thousands of years in the Punjab and when they moved to Canada in the 1980s continued to do so in the Okanagan Valley. Born in 2009, Gold Hill makes small lot estate wines from the Gill's 65-acres in the south Okanagan; 32 in Osoyoos and 24-acres on the Golden Mile (not part of the sub-GI).
Rich notes of plum pie, baking spices, vanilla, pipe tobacco, mocha and fresh earth are layered with balsamic strawberries, leather and bruised apples. The palate vacillates between tangy red berries with white pepper and cigar, and soy sauce and wild herbs. The finish is earthy, salty and sweet.
