Tangy, dry, fizzy.
This cuvee close (or charmat method) sparkling from Mill Bay (in the Cowichan Valley sub-GI) on southern Vancouver Island and is the pink counterpart to Unsworth’' flagship Charme de L'ILE blanc.
I'm not sure if there has been a change to the production of this wine, but the previous two samples I've had I did not review due to quality. This one was a revelation.
A salmony-pink Pinot Noir fizz, which displays tangy red berries, crushed wild flowers, peach stone and mineral undertones. Juicy and dry with snappy red fruit flavours woven with honey, wild herbs and orange peel.
A charming bubbly.
Second review: August 2021
Strawberry jam and cedar chips, charred orange peel, clay and dried rose petal aromas lead to a juicy and bone dry bubbly with a jubilant fizzy character and delicate fruit with a pristine character. The finish is lengthy and trails tangy red berry and citrus flavours. Lovely finesse.
