Excellent, spiced, supple.
Lakeside Cellars is a 14-acre estate on the eastern shore of Lake Osoyoos. It rests on what used to be the Haynes Homestead. Unable to save the existing structure, new owners Harbans and Harkesh Dhaliwal used parts of the historic estate when building their new tasting room in 2016.
This Cabernet was harvested from a Golden Mile vineyard and was matured in neutral French and American oak for 24 months.
The 2017 is now sold out at the winery but if you can get hold of some you can expect an excellent bottle. Aromas of rich silky chocolate and sweet black currents are woven with violets, vanilla, pipe tobacco and baking spice. It has a fresh and supple entry, flavours of wild berries, chocolate, charred spice and cigar dominate the palate. Medium-full bodied, this is a serious wine with notable balance.
