Energetic, fresh, elegant.
Barrel fermented with wild yeast and then aged on lees in French (25% new) barrels for 10 months with partial malolactic fermentation, this Chardonnay, from the estate's home block Saddle Block Vineyard in East Kelowna, is made from clones 76, 95 and 548.
This version of Spearhead's Chard program is much more energetic and tropical; young pineapple and yellow apples, pears and Meyer lemons, acacia and spiced hazelnut aromas. On the palate, banana and pineapples with a toasted and nutty finish. It's also elegant, balanced and persistent. Just as good as the Clone 95, just different.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Undressed.
