Fresh, supple, fruity
The Kruger family established Wile Goose Vineyards in Okanagan Falls in 1984, and since 2021 has been owned by Burrowing Owl Vineyards in Oliver. The Red Horizon is Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot and Included for the first time in 2020 is Dunkelfelder, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. All the grapes were harvested from vineyards in Oliver and Osoyoos. The components were vinified and barrel-aged separately for 16 months, in 25% French and 75% American oak, afterward they were assembled into the blend. The wine was then bottled and left to mature further before release.
It has an initially very fruity nose which includes concord grapes and blackberry, cherry cola, vanilla, baking spices and warm chocolate aromas. It's fresh and supple, approachable with a plush weight and a more textural finish trailing tobacco and spice flavours.
