Savoury, silky, classic.
Located above Vaseaux Lake in Okanagan Falls, Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars was established five decades ago.
Their wines have a very classic, honest character and they are stay true to their roots.
The 2022 Gamay (it's been four years since I've tasted this wine) was hand harvested and had an 18 day maceration. It was aged in neutral oak barrels for 12 months then bottled and cellared another six months.
Notes of beet greens and tealeaf are layered with small red berries, earth, fine spices and charred licorice. It's a fresh wine, classic, silky and fresh with savoury undertoness. Stylish and medium-bodied, it has a juicy finish.
Pair: cedar planked salmon, pork tenderloin with berry sauces, grilled chicken, chorizo or soft, washed rind cheeses.
