Fresh, toasted, golden.
Lunessence was born in Summerland in 2014 when its owners took over a property in Summerland and named the estate Lunessence: Luna=Moon + Essence.
They believe in sustainable viticulture, balance and harmony in their vineyards, and achieved organic certification in 2020 while completing a new vineyard planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The grapes for this Chardonnay (the first the winery has released since 2015) were sourced from Osoyoos; 20% was fermented in French oak and then wine spent 8 months on lees in stainless steel.
Golden apples, lemon meringue, honeysuckle and spiced buttered nut aromas roll into a palate with spice, toast and vague yellow fruit. The mid-palate is a bit soft and is overall lean, but freshness is notable.
