Tohu Sauvignon Blanc, Awatere Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand
Readers rated this wine:
Delicious, silky, racy.
Establish in 1998, Tohu is the first entirely Maori owned wine business. It is part of Kono (also a wine label) and is based in Te Tauihu, the top of the South Island. With more than 4000 owner families, their goal is preserve and enhance their taonga (treasured possession) for present and future generations. This delicious Savvy comes from the cooler Awatere Valley within Marlborough, known for is more verdant wines. Gooseberry and passionfruit aromas are layered with lime, elderflower leaf, wildflower honey and white grapefruit. The palate is just as pristine and piquant as the nose. Citrus peel, passionfruit and grass clippings flavours hold court; it also has a silky texture and good length. ©copyright 2021 Daenna Van Mulligen
