Nederburg 'Heritage Heros The Anchorman' Old Vine Chenin Blanc, South Africa
Readers rated this wine:
Slick, potent, woven
The Heritage Heroes are a series of hand-made gourmet wines named for some of the folks who have shaped Nederburg and its history as one of South Africa's oldest and most awarded wineries. This one is named for founder Philippus Wolvaart who bought the farm in 1791. The grapes come from Swartland and Paarl planted 37 & 38 years ago, which means the fall under South Africa's OVP (old vine project) vines; portions were fermented in older oak, clay amphora and in stainless steel. Notes of honey and grilled lemon, pine wax and straw, fennel, yellow apples, peach stone and flint lead to a lively palate. It's wonderfully woven and the flavours echo its aromas. Notable depth and potency it has a slick texture and trails citrus and dried pineapple flavours across the finish. ©copyright 2022 Daenna Van Mulligen
