Luis Segundo Corrreas 'Las Acequias' Bonarda, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
While Malbec is undoubtedly king in Mendoza, a less commonly known but very important variety called Bonarda was historically the work-horse. This red grape of Italian origins, was mainly used in bulk table wine and now is mainly used as a blender, to to add fruitiness to the finished wine. But, Bonarda, especially ones from 90 year-old vines like this one is, can be excellent on its own.
This vintage doles out aromas of vanilla cherries and purple plums with green olives, tomato leaf, cola spices and leather. It has a supple and rounded palate, is sweet and spicy with savoury undertones and has a lengthy and fresh finish. ©copyright 2018 Daenna Van Mulligen
