Covert Farms Family Estate 'Amicitia', Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Second review: December 2023Chocolate covered plums and Christmas cake, toasted baking spices and licorice, leather and pipe tobacco aromas lead to a supple palate with primary earthy flavours. Leather, toasted spice and coffee flavours line the palate. The finish is remains textural seven months after my last review. ©copyright 2023 Daenna Van Mulligen Wine Scores Reviewed - December 15th, 2023
Savoury, fresh, organic.
Covert Farms is a regeneratively-farmed 650-acre fourth-generation, family-owned organic farm and winery estate located just north of Oliver. The Amicitia is a Merlot (35%), Cabernet Sauvignon (28%), Cab Franc (16%), Malbec (11%), Petit Verdot (8%) and Syrah (2%) blend aged 14 months in French and American oak. Notes of tobacco and dried cherry are woven with creamy dark chocolate, violets, coffee, ground spices, vanilla and wild sage. It has a supple entry with flavours to echo the nose then it grows more textural toward the finish. Nicely integrated good freshness and balance.

Covert Farms Family Estate 'Amicitia', Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, concentrated, organic.
Covert Farms is a 650-acre fourth-generation, family-owned organic farm and winery estate located just north of Oliver. The Amicitia is a Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Syrah blend that leads with notes of toasted spice, charred cherries and black currents then delves into spice, vanilla, smoked meat, mocha and plumcake. The entry is supple with notable fruit expression. Full-bodied and slightly brooding, it's a concentrated red with lifted freshness and chalky tannins; the finish trails dark cocoa, ash and coffee. ©copyright 2020 Daenna Van Mulligen

Covert Farms Family Estate 'Grand Reserve' Chardonnay, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Slick, creamy, fresh.
The family heirloom known as Covert Farms, is a 650-acre multi-functional regeneratively-farmed estate that was established in 1959 at McIntyre Bluff.
2020 marked the first ever Chardonnay ever produced by Covert Farms; the vines, planted in 2007 are rooted in estate glaciofluvial sedimentary soils. This Grand Reserve 2021 was barrel fermented then aged 9 months in French oak. It has a nutty, buttery nose with crunchy yellow apples, honeysuckle, acacia and lemon aromas. Creamy in the mouth it's a juxtaposition of generous and juicy. Slick and beautifully balanced with a nutty, zesty finish. Excellent. ©copyright 2023 Daenna Van Mulligen

Covert Farms Family Estate 'Grand Reserve' Pinot Noir, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Classic, silky, stylish.
Tasted bottle No.495 of 2,700.
This organic, vegan and regeneratively farmed Pinot Noir was harvested from Covert Farm's estate's Mimi Block (planted in 2009) and aged 21 months in French oak. Beautifully woven, you can expect classic notes of sweet red cherry and vanilla, star anise, cedar chips, violets, raspberry, beets rolled in cocoa and fresh earth. It has a silky palate that is fresh and stylish. Red berries, earth and fine spice flavours mirror the nose. Expect good length with some grip on the finish and flavours of leather and tealeaf.
Savoury notes of beet greens, wild herbs and rainforest floor are woven with sweet red current and cherries, baking spices and orange peel. It is silky and shows a classic Pinot earthy character along with bacon fat, fine spice and cocoa.
