Blasted Church was established in Okanagan falls 20 years ago. It was named for a mining camp church which was torn down (with the help of explosives) and rehomed to the Falls in 1929. The labels tell many colourful stories.
This co-fermented Mourvedre, Syrah (32%) and Grenache (33%) blend, which is part of the Small Blessings tier, was aged in oak for 16 months and the large percentage of (35%) Mourvedre really drives this wine. Coffee and black chocolate, smoked meat and spice rub, green bell peppers and wild sage are underscored by plum, leather and black cherry. The palate is an echo of the nose, it suggests bacon fat and savoury flavours with loads of coffee and dark chocolate leather and black pepper. Fresh but muscular.

Dry, creamy, racy.
Blasted Church's OMG sparkling is Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc from the 2016 vintage and it suggests classic brioche/bread dough aromas woven with yellow fruits, meringue, grilled lemons, dried flowers and a whiff of powdered ginger. It's a dry sparkling with a creamy edge and tangy fruit, plenty of lemon and yeasty flavours that lead to dried flowers and racy lime on the finish.

This Cabernet, which is part of the Renaissance tier offers dark chocolate and tart red berry, plum, tobacco, toasted spice and earthy aromas. The entry is fresh; flavours of red bruits, pencil shavings, tobacco and leather dominate the palate. It's a textural medium+ bodied red.

Smoked, meaty, savoury.
Blasted Church's Cabernet Merlot blend was aged in a mix of new and multiple-aged French, Hungarian and American oak barrels for 14 months.
Smoked plums and charred oak, brown spices, green olives, wild herbs, salted licorice, bacon fat, espresso and black chocolate aromas are echoed on the palate. It has a salty-spicy character with tar, tobacco and bitter chocolate flavours on the finish.

Fresh, texture, spiced.

This Merlot, which is part of the Renaissance tier, suggests grapey aromas layered with tobacco, plum and patchouli. It has a good body and texture throughout with spiced purple fruit flavours, cedar, cocoa and dusty plums. Nice freshness here.
