Hester Creek 'Selected Barrels' Merlot, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Oaky, plummy, meaty.
An oaky Merlot loaded with plums and wild berries, cedar and vanilla, cedar chips and oak spice aromas. The fruit is front-loaded on the palate, which morphs into spiced oak, bittersweet cocoa, bacon fat and roasted bell pepper and charred herbs.

Hester Creek 'Terra Unica' Cabernet~Syrah, Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, supple, fresh.
This premium label red from Hester Creek is 1/3 Syrah and 2/3 Cabernet Sauvignon.
It's a succulent wine; spice, green bell peppers, roasted meat, cracked pepper and mocha aromas are lifted with wild red berries and plums. The palate is equally savoury and has good structure, supple tannins, freshness and a cocoa and toasted spice finish.

Hester Creek 'Terra Unica' Old Vines Merlot, Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley
Readers rated this wine:
Smoky, spicy, elegant.
Made from vines planted in 1968, the same year Hester Creek was established, 50 years ago, this old vines Merlot delivers aromas of smoked plums, spice rub, leather and char-grilling meat. The palate is elegant and has distinct saline and umami flavours wrapped with red fruits, cocoa and spice. Good balance overall, it is a medium-bodied red with a fine dusting of tannins.

Hester Creek 'Terra Unica' Petit Verdot~Malbec, Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Fragrant, unique, fresh.
One of the more curious combinations I have seen, the bold purple fruitiness of the Petit Verdot (85%) is a very pleasing addition to the classic meaty Malbec (15%) a style of Malbec, which the Okanagan tends to lean toward. The wine comes from two specific blocks and was aged for 12-16 months in mixed barrels (French and American). Only 88 cases were made--for wine club members only.
As noted, it's an interesting wine with a nose of blueberry, roses and lilacs, sarsaparilla and mocha. The palate mimics the nose but is fresher and leaner, which makes for a better food wines, and ergo, one you will return for, sip after sip.

Hester Creek 'Terra Unica' Riesling, Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Concentration, fragrant, lengthy.
A delightful Riesling from Hester Creek's Terra Unica range, which offers apricots, bergamot, lemon drops honey and crunchy green apples. The palate has a sweet tea character--think chamomile tea with lemon and honey. Overall, the concentration and length are impressive but a slightly drier and racier version would be applauded.
