Hester Creek 'Terra Unica' Petit Verdot~Malbec, Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:
Fragrant, unique, fresh.
One of the more curious combinations I have seen, the bold purple fruitiness of the Petit Verdot (85%) is a very pleasing addition to the classic meaty Malbec (15%) a style of Malbec, which the Okanagan tends to lean toward. The wine comes from two specific blocks and was aged for 12-16 months in mixed barrels (French and American). Only 88 cases were made--for wine club members only.
As noted, it's an interesting wine with a nose of blueberry, roses and lilacs, sarsaparilla and mocha. The palate mimics the nose but is fresher and leaner, which makes for a better food wines, and ergo, one you will return for, sip after sip.
