Carved, silky, racy.
From the Meyer family's estate vineyard on the Naramata Bench, this year's Tribute Chardonnay pays homage to Donovan Tildesley--a blind Paralympic swimmer.
It seems Meyer can do no wrong; a focus on what they do well and making premium wines. This version is toasty and assertive; notes of oyster shell and matchstick, grilled lemons and brown spices with creamed butter. The palate is equally confident; racy acidity, spice and citrus flavours are carved free with a creamy edge. It is slick and silky with a toasted coriander flavoured finish.
Aged in French oak (22% new). The wine was left "sur lees" for 11 months without battonage and went through natural malolactic fermentation. The wine is unfined and coarsely filtered.
