If you’ve ever been to South Africa then you will have seen the King Protea. A flowering plant, Protea Cynaroides is found in southern areas of South Africa and is the national flower of South Africa.

Anthonij Rupert was founded on the L'Ormarins farm in Franschhoek, whose winemaking history dates back to the 17th century. Originally it was owned by the late Anthonij Rupert, who passed away in 2001. In 2003 it was taken over by his brother Johann who named it in his honour.. They now have a portfolio of farms: L'Ormarins in Franschhoek, Rooderust in Darling, Riebeeksrivier in the Swartland, and Altima in isolated Elandskloof.
Made from Mourvedre, Cinsault, Grenache and Shiraz grown in the Swartland and in Darling this vintage is pale salmony-pink with notes of summer berries, peach stone, musky honey notes and wildflowers. It's dry and juicy with fleshy berry and blood orange flavours. Straightforward and fresh. .
