Haywire

Haywire 'Crush Pad Red' Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:

The Haywire box trio offers you a fine selection of easy access wines, which have a handy tap. A box is worth four (count 'em, four) bottles - great for lazy people like me, or if you're off to the cottage!
The blue box, is a red blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and smells sweet and spicy. Black cherries, sunwarmed berries, vanilla, licorice and violets with a hint of orange peel and sweet spice. It is medium-bodied and juicy with plenty of the same berry and spice flavours you get on the nose.
An approachable red, great for a crowd, but don't serve it too warm, this is a wine, which benefits from just a little chill.
Look for the red box (a Gamay rose) and the green box (a white blend).
Serve with a party, with burgers, pizza, spicy sausage on a bun and the likes...

Haywire 'Crush Pad White', Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:

Here's a (not so) Haywire blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris.
This colourful box is equal to 4 bottles - just slide it into your fridge and you have your own tap!
Of course I love this concept - it's less packaging (good), less stockpiling (good), and perfect for lazy wine pourers like me (good).
It's a straightforward white, fresh and fruity with hints of honey, herbs, orchard fruits and even some spice on the nose. It's not lacking weight in the mouth - honey dominates the palate followed with citrus, nectarine, pear and apple flavours. It's a dry wine with a mouthwatering finish.
Look for the Crush Pad Red and Crush Pad Rose bag-in-box as well!
Sip solo or partner with: appetizers, cheese and olives, fish, salads... you get the drift...

Haywire 'Crush Pad' Rose, Okanagan Valley BC

Okanagan Crush Pad's Haywire, has taken bag-in-box to a whole new level.
Forget your preconceived notions of bag-in-box and get ready for the summer! This chic (and environmentally friendly) lineup of boxes from Haywire come in three lively colours/flavours - white (green box), red (blue box) and this rose, made from 100% Gamay.
It's a light salmony pink and offers bright rhubarb, red berry and fine spice notes. Light-bodied with a kiss of sweetness, which balanced with crisp acidity; flavours of tart red fruit, cedar and spice are layered with citrus peel. It has a snappy, mouthwatering finish.
Perfect for fish, summer salads, white meats, artisan pizzas when camping, sailing or just hanging out on your patio.

Haywire 'The Bub' Sparkling, Okanagan Valley BC, 2011
Readers rated this wine:

The Bub is the nickname of Okanagan Crush Pad owner, Christine Coletta's daughter, Alison.
It's made by winemaker Michael Bartier from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay - traditional grapes for making Champagne and it's made in the traditional (more labour intensive) method.
It's a sweet, fresh and fun bubbly with delicate white fruits (think yellow apples and pears) orange blossoms and a hint of peach. The kiss of sweetness on the palate makes it approachable and very, very quaffable, but it's certainly not enough to make you stop at one glass. A sassy mousse, plenty of bright fruit and lively citrus flavours round out the palate and it has good length.
Only 50 cases made, get it while you can!

Haywire Gamay Noir Rose, Okanagan Valley BC
Readers rated this wine:

We have a winner!
Although rose wines are getting better and better, there are still some that don't seem to nail it - specifically a balance of fruit, structure and acidity. The inaugural Haywire Rose hits the spot with sweet, ripe aromas of raspberry and cherry, pink grapefruit and a hint of tangerine peel. It is vibrant in the mouth - again with pink grapefruit, and tart red cherry flavours that dance across your palate. There is a pleasing weight on the tongue and a zingy, mouth-watering finish to tame a whisper of sweetness.
A perfect patio pour!
