Meyer Family Vineyards 'Micro Cuvee' Chardonnay, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Elegant, profound,complex.
Located in the Okanagan Falls sub-GI, Meyer Family Vineyards specializes in premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from estate vineyards under the winemaking guidance of Chris Carson.
The 2018 Micro Cuvee Chardonnay is selected from MFV's Old Main Road vineyard on the Naramata Bench. A long, cool fermentation took place in stainless steel vessels where it remained for most of the ferment. The must was then transferred to 100% French oak (33% new) and left sur lie for 11 months without battonage; natural malolactic fermentation occurred in late spring. For this Micro Cuvee they selected the most outstanding barrels and in keeping with their philosophy to maintain a hands-off approach in the cellar (allowing for true expression of terroir), the wine is unfined and unfiltered.
Warm buttered biscuits, apple turnovers, honeysuckle, toasted spice and vanilla liqueur aromas flow seamlessly onto a plush yet lively palate. Creamy and complex with woven fruit, citrus, spice and nutty flavours this wine is elegant, delicious and frankly, profound. ©copyright 2021 Daenna Van Mulligen
