Luigi Bosca Single Vineyard Malbec, DOC Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, sturdy, lengthy.
With its awesome new label, this single vineyard offering from Luigi Bosca grabs attention, equally, from the terms Single Vineyard and D.O.C printed upon it. New to me, the appellation of Lujan de Cuyo has had a protected and controlled denomination of origin board, which was established in 1989 as the first D.O.C in the Americas. Of course, rules and guidelines within the zone must also be followed to earn the right to demonstrate it on a label.
This wine also happened to earn a coveted TOP 100 of 2015 in Wine Spectator.
Anticipate aromas of muddled cherries and wild summer berries, roasted herbs, violets, espresso and spiced dark cocoa. It is a savoury version, well-woven and sturdy. The finish is lengthy and trails, cocoa nibs, espresso and spice, its structure carved out by fine and firm tannins.
Pair: grilled or roasted meats, mushroom and thyme stuffed ravioli.
