Generous, fleshy, modern.
Modus means method, it is Ruffino's expression of a modern wine -- a Super Tuscan first made in 1997. It has a core of Sangiovese and is rounded out with Merlot and given structure with Cabernet Sauvignon.
It is rich and chocolaty and laden with layers of cherries, vanilla, baking spices, pipe tobacco, botanicals, coffee liqueur and hazelnuts. It has impressive potency juxtaposed with vibrant acidity – it is both juicy and structured with powdery tannins. Primary flavours of red fruit, mocha, tobacco, spice and leather complete the picture.
A generous style, the Modus offers leather, cherry, strawberry, espresso and iodine notes, which mingle with tealeaf, iodine and dried roses. It is supple with oodles of fruit and good overall freshness.
