Yalumba 'Sanctum' Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, South Australia
Readers rated this wine:
Fleshy, supple, seductive.
Australia's oldest family-owned winery (now more than 170 years old) makes a fantastic selection of wines, just one of those is this SanctumCabernet from the Menzies Vineyard in the heart of the Coonawarra, famous for its terra rossa soils over limestone; and notably one of the best places to grown Cabernet in the world. The nose is a seductive parlay of licorice and black raspberry, pipe tobacco, Turkish coffee, licorice and eucalyptus. It has a supple palate with generous fleshy fruit fruit and plenty of balanced freshness; the finish trails mineral and dark mocha. Subtly powerful and delightfully woven.
