Blasted Church Vineyards Viognier, Okanagan Valley, BC
Readers rated this wine:
Fresh, zesty, lengthy.
Blasted Church was established in Okanagan falls 20 years ago. It was named for a mining camp church which was torn down (with the help of explosives) and rehomed to the Falls in 1929. The labels tell many colourful stories.
Harvested from the estate Redbrick Vineyard on the Osoyoos East Bench, and Crespo Vineyard on the Osoyoos West Bench this 100% Viognier was fermented in oak (25%) and stainless steel. It delivers freshness overall; stone fruits and lemon-lime, honeysuckle and faint spiced biscuit aromas. It's dry and juicy, not flabby as Viognier can get when overripe, has a zesty character overall with yellow fruits and hints of spice. Good length here.
