Veuve Clicquot Extra Brut Extra Old Champagne, France
Readers rated this wine:
Rare, complex, xxx,br>
A rare blend of 55% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier from six precious reserve vintages: 1988, 1996, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010. The first release of this wine, (this very bottling) was 2017; another will be released for 2019 and with only 3g/L dosage, this truly is a dry Champagne. Golden, leesy and autolytic with roasted almonds, buttered brioche, yellow apple, Asian pears and star fruit aromas. Uber chic with a fine bead and superlative complexity, it is creamy yet bright, woven and crunchy with a bold lemon and nutty finish.
Pair: aged French cheeses, sea bass, white meats, mushrooms and crayfish. ©copyright 2019 Daenna Van Mulligen
