Pale, earthy, dry.
From Chile's northernmost winemaking region of Elqui this pale pinky-peach rose is made from Syrah with no-skin contact during fermentation, ergo, the watery hue.
It's dominated by earthy and herbal flavours; tart wild red berries, rhubarb, bitter orange and faint spice aromas lead to a lean palate with somewhat oxidative and bruised fruit and yuzu flavours. A totally dry rose that will benefit from a food pairing; cheese, oily fish or charcuterie.

Supple, satisfying, unique.
The Falernia estate is located in the northernmost viticultural region of Chile, in the Elqui Valley and they produce what is my first ever taste of Sangiovese from Chile. Tuscany's red grape shows power here, with smoked strawberry, cedar chips, dried rose petals, tobacco, leather, star anise and vanilla. It has a fleshy fruit, supple weight and flavours to mimic the nose; chalky cocoa tannins line the palate. An interesting wine, pleasing and satisfying.

Savoury, musky, smoky. This vintage is very different from the last. It has a musky and smoked character with roasted green beans, grilled lemons, almonds and undertones of elderflower branch and grass clippings. The palate is quite rich, slick, and oxidative, with creamed yellow apples, marmalade, jalapeno and fleur de sel.

Savoury, pungent, salty. An overly verdant Sauvignon Blanc with strong savoury and umami notes: jalapeno and roasted green peppers, nettle, grass clippings, peach, green apples and sweaty undertones. The palate shows lime pith, jalapeno, green beans and salted asparagus flavours.
It has a unique bitterness and pungency that will not appeal to all lovers of this variety.

Potent, mature, woven.
Titon Vineyard, the first to be planted in the modern wave of viticulture in Chile's most northerly winegrowing region, Elqui, rests 18km inland from Pacific and is comprised of stony soils warmed by plenty of sunlight.
Outstanding and potent, the nose suggests kirsch and salted licorice, bruised plums and vanilla, raspberry compote, molasses, shaved dark chocolate, wild oregano and grilled peppers. It is supple with notable concentration and depth, mature and woven it delivers flavours of salted dried plums, chocolate, sweet brown spice and white pepper with herbal undertones. Great depth and character.
