Escorihuela '1884' Estate Grown Malbec, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Muscular, layered, savoury.
The entire Escorihuela 1884 series has seen a facelift, the new label is more elegant, but not a huge departure from previous vintages.
Blackberry, wild red berries and cola spice aromas are layered with roasted herbs, mocha and violets. It's a muscular red with intensity; it also shows notable balance and structure.
It's a perfect pairing for dense proteins, such as hard cheeses, grilled mushrooms and roasted meats.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Parmesan & Rosemary

Fresh, spicy, balanced.
This vintage, the 1884 Malbec is brighter overall. Expect high-toned red berry aromas, vanilla, bayleaf and mint chocolates. It is succulent and equally fresh; mocha, mixed spice and cracked pepper and wild berries dominate the palate. Great balance here, an excellent daily red.
Made for dense proteins, such as hard cheeses, grilled mushrooms and roasted meats.

Escorihuela '1884' Estate Grown Syrah, Mendoza Argentina
Readers rated this wine:
Appealing, fragrant, generous
Another appealing vintage of the 1884 Syrah, the 2018 is directed by fragrant black raspberry, vanilla, liquorice and white pepper atop candied violets and bay leaf. Equally engaging the mouth it has a supple weight and generous sweet fruit layered with peppery spices, cocoa and vanilla, and finishes with a good measure of clove. Overall balanced and thorough but sill youthfully compact.
A solid partner for game meats, roasted wild mushrooms, aged cheeses and cheese fondue.
