Caymus Vineyards Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley California
Readers rated this wine:
Napa Valley soil runs in the Wagner family's veins and Chuck Wagner makes his wines just as he likes to drink them, "round, rich and full of fruit."
The premium Cabernet is inky in colour and offers plush cassis and black raspberry notes that leap out of the glass and are layered with spice cake, vanilla, licorice and chocolate. Concentrated and chocolaty in the mouth with flavours of cassis, pipe tobacco, baking spice and cedar. It's a hedonistic wine, geneorus and supple with excellent persistence.

Napa Valley soil runs in the Wagner family's veins and Chuck Wagner makes his wines just as he likes to drink them, "round, rich and full of fruit." His premium offers plush cassis and black raspberry notes that leap out of the glass and are layered with spice cake, vanilla, licorice and chocolate. Concentrated flavours of plump juicy dark berries, baking spice and sarsaparilla linger long after you swallow. It's an exceedingly satisfying and supple wine with sweet ripe tannins. Delicious! This is an impressive special occasion or gift wine.

Caymus~Suisun 'Grand Durif', Suisun Valley, California
Readers rated this wine:
Opulent, velvety, generous.
Durif (aka Petite Sirah) is the name commonly used in Australia. Here, Caymus presents their version, which is grown in the valley neighbouring Napa, and is located 40 minutes southeast of the winery. Suisun (SU-Soon) is a small valley AVA, with only about a dozen wineries, which has been producing wine since the mid-1800s. If you want a wine that is fruity AF and blatantly opulent, this is your wine. Velvety notes of blueberry pie, melted chocolate and raspberry jam are layered with star anise, vanilla and cinnamon. Almost thick enough to stand a spoon up in, it's boldly flavoured with full-throttle purple fruit, pipe tobacco and chocolate. This wine brings it. ©copyright 2021 Daenna Van Mulligen

Red Schooner, 'Red Wine of the World,' Voyage 4
Readers rated this wine:
Generous, fresh, supple.
Made from Malbec from Argentina, grapes were shipped by sea to Caymus in Napa Valley. Being the fourth rendition of this wine, they call it Voyage 4. It is an hefty bottle filled with aromas of spicy red fruits and blackberries, leather, bittersweet cocoa and roasted herbs. The palate is supple and generous with a chocolaty/spicy demeanor and glycerol texture. An international style with good balance and attractive sweet yet savoury character. Pricey for a wine made in Cali, from Argentine grapes, but the story is fun. ©copyright 2017 Daenna Van Mulligen

Browned butter and saffron, meringue and charred lemons, pineapple and hazelnut aromas lead to a wonderfully woven palate with a creamy weight and balanced acidity. It is smooth, fresh and delicious.
