I'm certainly not complaining about the recent trend to adding a drop (or three) of Viognier to Shiraz, I find it lifts Shiraz a bit, takes the edge off so to speak. But wine is all about palate and choice so you won't find any Viognier in winemaker Wayne Stehbens Shiraz. His Founder's Block Shiraz is just Shiraz, and darn good too!
Foward ripe berry aromas--blackberry/raspberry/stawberry--star anise and pepper. Juicy berry fruit on the palate, loads more pepper and tobacco followed by lingering warm spice on the finish.
