Osoyoos Larose Le Grand Vin, Okanagan BC, 2005
Readers rated this wine:
This now well recognized Bordeaux-style blend is all BC. A joint venture between the Bordeaux based Group Taillan and Vincor Canada the grapes are 100% BC and the production takes place in the Southern Okanagan but the winemaker Pascal Mavedon, is wholly French.
The 2005 vintage is a dense and heady combination of rich dark earth, savoury herbs, berry fruit and dried plum aromas with whiffs of pencil shavings and smoky/meaty notes. On the palate it is purely masculine, chewy and quite massive showing cocoa, leather and sweet tobacco with a chewy texture and lingering char flavours.
Decant if you must consume now but this would make a wonderful cellar gift.
